Don't go to the left when you leave the place, go to the right Target-Wall mart. To the right leaving the resort is the big shopping center. Food, Rum, Beer and also food. It is about 2 miles away. Nobody will tell you and you will go to the Very high priced red hook food store. But, it does have very fresh sea food. Get there, unload your baggage stuff and take your list to the food mart. Again, to the right as you leave the complex. Over all a good stay but, it is an island. Get the food and beer, watch the sun go down and a must is St. John Island. If you don't go there stay at home. The ferry stops at about 11:00pM AND STARTS about 6:00. Plan your flights accordingly. THe main bay on st. john is by the Hughes resort. Maybe others will tell you, it has an island in the middlel of it. Take plenty of mosquito spray and stay out of the shade. You will have a great time.

This was my first time to the Caribbean and we stayed at Pt Pleasant. Some tips for the others would be to 1. RENT A CAR, but the roads are really hilly and have some blind turns. If you are more than 2 people and want to go to more than one beach a day it is cheaper to rent a car than take a taxi. 2. Also, there is a little place to buy very expensive breakfast items that you have to cook yourself in the lobby, but other than that break is really hard to find. GO food shopping in town before you get to the hotel, because they give you a full kitchen with cups, plates, utensils... This is not a matter of saving money, it is for survival. We didn't rent a car and felt stranded for breakfast every morning. I will say that Magen's Beach has some great french toast though. 3. Bring bug spray and a citrenalla candel to sit out on the balcony with the great views. 4. If you don't like walking up hills to do everything - this is not the hotel for you. FYI, the Wyndham next door has the same problem with the hills. In general, the beachs are small, gorgeous, and hard to get to. Either you have to drive there or hike up hill, but the scenery and wildlife is gorgeous, and the snorkeling is a real treat.

The property are individual owned condos. The picture on the internet was of a renovated unit. It didn't look anything like the one we finally settled in. The first room we were assigned to, we walked in and we immediately walked right back out. The facility was built in the 1970's and the furniture and applicances in the first room were original and in very poor condition. The second room we were assigned to was a larger one bedroom with updated furnishing approximately 15years old. The appliances appeared original. and they were in very poor conidtion. Housekeeping was very poor. We were there the third week of September. There are three pools, and one was closed. The pools are not appropriate for individuals who can't swim. The perimeter of the pools is six feet and nine feet in the middle. Internet listed a free scuba lesson in the hotel package. It was not available. The facility really doesn't have it's own beach. There is a beach within walking distance called Coki beach which is nice. Unfortunately, you have to walk through a blighted neighborhood to get to it. There were people living in tents, trash scattered on the ground and overflowing garbage cans. Some of the locals warned us to be back in our hotel before sundown because of the drug activity on the beach. There isn't any entertainment at the hotel. There are two restaurants but neither serve breakfast. 1800 numbers are not free from room. There is a flate rate of $0.75. I would not recommed this hotel for families with children. It was very quiet during our stay because most kids have returned to school. This hotel is listed as a three star but in my experience, it resembles more of a two star of 1.5

I just got engaged and we stayed at this resort and I HAVE to say how amazing and unforgettable this was, it is absolutely the Best resort on the island! Everything was perfect, the scenery, the landscape with tropical plants and flowers- And Honestly, the Agave restaurant left us speechless- You simply cannot find such perfection with seafood anywhere in the WORLD!!! It was phenominal...the food, the service and the view! They also have live entertainement (we sat outside in a 'tropical oasis' like setting with our coctails listenig to the live sax. player) It should be on the Food Network! Fungi's is also great for a sea-side lunch or dinner. You must take advantage of the free snorkel and kayak gear as well as the 3 pools and nature trails, its so much fun! Red Hook is only 5 minutes away to go shopping for groceries or dinner/ shops. The ferry to St. John is less than 20 minutes away and a great day event - as well as shopping in Charlotte amalie where you can find anything you are looking for (a lot of jewelry, perfume and souveniers, clothing)- Only advice- Go to Agave restaurant no matter what, go kayaking, snorkeling, extra cash for groceries, take dollar safari to near-by towns and go to charlotte amalie for shopping! this was the best vacation we've ever had!!
