I recently went down to the USVI on a combined vacation, half in St. Thomas and half in St. Croix. While in St. Thomas I stayed at the Point Pleasant Resort and loved every minute of it. The staff were extremely friendly, very helpful, and had some great advice on what to see around the island. The rooms at Point Pleasant are great. They are very spacious and have a full kitchen. It was great to be able to make breakfast on my own schedule and not worry about making hotel buffet times. But, possibly the best part about the room was the view. It was stunning looking out over the island and down onto the turquoise water. Everyday it took my breath away. The hotel is also in a great location on the island. It is close to Red Hook for groceries, restaurants, and the ferry to St. John. I thoroughly enjoyed my entire stay at the Point Pleasant Resort and I can't wait to travel down to St. Thomas again to go back!

We just got back from a 5 night stay, December 30th to January 4th 2009 and it was perfect. The view we had of the islands and harbor were the most impressive I have ever seen from a hotel room. The room was also spectactular as it had been fully renovated just before Christmas at a cost of around $ we were told. Which brings me to this point: try your hardest to get a room that has been taken care of by the owners. A couple we met had expressed great disatisfaction with their room because of outdated kitchen appliances, furnishings and older model television set for the same price we paid for our room. That being said, I think we would go back to this resort for many reasons the main one being the view from the room. While other places may offer views of the ocean or a beach, this one had wall length sliding glass doors facing east and north allowing an unobstructed view of the majestic blue ocean surrounding the island. It made me feel like we didn't have to go anywhere to enjoy the island. If you stay here, Coki beach is a fun beach to visit at least once. It is the main beach spot for some of the cruise ship excursions and is very crowded. There are other less crowded beaches all over the island and really you should try visit some of the others if possible. We enjoyed Megan's bay at St. Thomas and Cinniman bay in St. John very much. We rented a jeep and it made traveling around so much more enjoyable especially with the top down. Hopefully you will find some of this information useful, Good luck!

My wife and I decided to have our wedding at Magen's Bay Beach and chose this resort for us and our group to stay at. We had 35 people come from all over (MD, CT, OH, VA, AZ, and Ireland) for our wedding and everyone said it was one of the best places they have ever been. Our particular room was more than we could have ever asked for. The place was in great shape, clean, everything worked (TV, iron, refrigerator, microwave, etc.), and best of all was one of the end units so we had a wrap around balcony. The view was stunning since we could easily see out to the other islands plus see out own Smith Bay with the sunset. The Resort was sort of hard for me to picture until I actually saw it. The entire Resort is on an extremely steep hill so you WILL need a car to get up and down. You are able to walk up and down but if you're like us you'll try it once and say never again. It is not like a big hotel but more like villas on the side of this hill. Some are located in the middle (by the main check in place), some near the bottom (by Agave Terrace and Fungi's and beach), and some at the top which is where ours was. Our group was spread out so we had some at the top, middle, and bottom. I have to say being at the top was by far the best. Yes, it was longer walk but the view was simply amazing. You could see for miles and miles. Jost Van Dyke and St John were easily visible from our room. Another great thing about resort was the two restaurants to eat at. Fungi's was a very simple place out on a deck over the water that served burgers, sandwiches, etc. The atmosphere was wonderful there. Agave Terrace was the other place to eat. This is where we had our wedding dinner with everyone. The chef was wonderful and catered to our every need. This was by far one of the nicest places to eat on the entire island. I really cannot say enough great things. I would highly recommend it to anyone. If I ever go back, which I think we are already planning on, we are definitely staying here.

Location was top notch: views of islands (inc. St. John), balcony right over ocean waves, short work to Coki beach with excellent snorkeling, short drive to Red Hook (ferry to St. John, rather expensive marina market shop, restaurants) to the east, and Magens beach to the west. Be prepare to 2 things: not much to do at nights (this and other hotels are on the hills, so not much space for nice walk), and annoying small ants in the unit, no biting occured though.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit out dated, but the view made up for it. We could not ask for a better view because of that I would come back to that same room on a future vacation. I would suggest getting around the island by the ""dolla ride"" otherwise we would have spent a fortune on taxi cab rides. Both of the resturants were very good that were on property.
