Point Pleasant gave us everything we were looking for except room service. The restaurants were great; one (Agavi) very formal and the other (Fungi) very casual and relaxing. Location was really great with Morningstar and Jester sail boats right in the bay we didn't have to drive anywhere to experience fabulous island boating. We also could walk to Coral World which was a lot of fun for couples or families. The resort could use some updating but it is still very comfortable as is!

  • If you only care about the views...

We had high hopes based on the reviews for this hotel. And indeed, the views from our apartment (located at the top of the resort) were fantastic. However, the apartment itself was greatly outdated (the bathrooms in particular were stuck in early 1970's). But most importantly the place was quite dirty. This has colored our experience in this hotel, which is more like a collection of time share apartments, so maybe you will be luckier in getting a cleaner place. There were a lot of bugs in our unit ( bring your bag spray, though we were not sure what kind of bugs were eating us and our kids). At least 5 lights in our unit were not working and the air-conditioner was broken. Someone came to fix some of the lights and the air-conditioner. He never returned to fix the other lights, even though we stayed for a week. There was a lizard in the shower - which would not be bad, but we paid quite a lot for the room - too much for lizards/bugs and dirt. No internet connection (only in the reception area which we have not attempted to use). We also had our fire detector placed in a basket in our kitchen - somehow I don't think that is up to code. Usually the detector needs to be attached to a wall or ceiling. The other disappointment - beaches...they are really non-existent, so you need to drive to Koki beach or even further away. TIP rent a car for St Thomas, it is still a better deal than getting everywhere using a taxi. Restaurants at the resort are okay, but there are great restaurants in Red Hook only 10 minute drive away. Overall, if you want a clean place with a nearby beach, look elsewhere

The hotel sits on a hilly site overlooking a protected bay, with a view of other islands. Beaches to the north and south side are small, and I was not able to judge how good snorkeling would be during my one night stay. The junior suite I had was very nicely outfitted and had a secluded balcony overlooking the water and Fugi's casual restaurant/bar on the water. The food at Fugi's (lunch and dinner) was good, but the menu limited. There is also a more formal restaurant, but the hotel lacks any place to eat breakfast. The hilly location makes it a challenge to move around.

While this resort (be careful of the use of that term) has some wonderful views and we were well satisfied with the general state of our suite even though the vertical blinds were in poor condition. Our location was bad as it was right above the Fungus bar and grill. While we are music lovers we do like to eventually be able to turn it down and off. The sliding glass doors did do a pretty good job and we had the AC running. They did at some point early in the morning turn the music off. The pools looked clean and in good condition but there were so many parts of the resort that were in disrepair the over all condition is really sad. You can see that when it was first built it was very nice. But now it is crumbling. There may have been hurricane damage sometime but that does not explain much of the state of disrepair in my opinion. It is no place for someone with limited mobility that is for sure. It is a place to sleep but if you are looking for more look elsewhere.

I have been a resident of St Thomas in the past for 5 years. I go back each year to see my friends and like to stay at different places for the experience. Well this most recent stay at Point Pleasant was very dissapointing. The first set the tone.....check in was very rude......not the island style I am used to. They do not turn over the beds daily nor do you have clean towels daily....what is up with that..... went to the gym where some of the equipment was not working....no treadmill. I walked to Pineapple beach and the chairs where locked up. I had to lay in the sand as no one was there to unlock them. I did not have coffee in the room as there is no maid service daily so no one to replace used coffee. I never need much but the few and I do mean few things I like were not there. Not a good experience for me. The only thing I will say was nice was the view.......they are lucky to have that. I would not stay here and if you choose to I hope your experience is better than mine.
